At Bravo Tango we love a challenge.  This year we are so pleased to try out a kickstarter.com project.  If you are unfamiliar with Kickstarter, it is a booming new online destination for creative people and companies to find funding for awesome projects.  We have found everything from documentaries to fashion lines.  The process is simple, you pledge your support  and if the project reaches it’s goal at the end of the allotted time, then you pay your pledge and get your “reward.”  In our case it’s a new and awesome t-shirt.

Happy Halloween from Bravo Tango Tees!

Halloween…a kid’s favorite holiday full of candy and fun! It’s so exciting to see all of the fantastic costumes on the happy children as they trick-or-treat through the neighborhoods. And I’d be lying if I said that as an adult I didn’t enjoy this day as well – CANDY!!

But while this day is meant to be fun, there are some safety tips that we all should keep in mind as our kids head out for trick-or-treating tonight. Following these very basic safety tips can help ensure that every one has a very spook-tacular Halloween!

• Ensure costumes are safe – There are endless costume ideas and our kids look so adorable as princesses and pirates, but we need to make sure their costumes don’t present a safety hazard. Make sure the costume length is short enough that a child won’t trip over the hemline. If a child is carrying a prop (sword, wand, etc.) make sure that it does not have sharp edges that can injure a child if they fall or accidentally run into another person. And as always, ensure that costumes are fire-proof or treated with fire-retardant.
• Trick-or-Treat in known areas – Make sure you know the area your kids will be trick-or-treating. And for safety reasons, as well as courtesy, only go to houses that have lights on and are participating in Trick-or-Treating.
• Be visible – When trick-or-treating, attempt to go out during times when it is light outside. Since it is getting darker earlier now, that is not always possible. If going out after dark, carry a flashlight and make sure children are visible in their costumes.
• Never enter a strangers home or car!
• Go Out in Groups – While it is always best for children to trick-or-treat with an adult, if they are going out alone make sure they are going out in a group.
• Check Candy Before Eating! - It is always best to have an adult check a child’s trick-or-treat bounty before eating it. While we never want to believe that someone would willingly harm our children, it is always better to be safe than sorry. It is also a good idea to check the candy simply so that we know what our kids will be eating.
• Watch Out as You Drive – Halloween is the one day of the year where neighborhoods are full of children out and about in our neighborhoods, which is why it is extremely important to be extra vigilant as we drive. It is also important to remind our children to “look both ways” before they cross the street, but as drivers we must make sure we take this extra precaution.
